PS4 Reports 60 Million Units Shipped

Like many companies this week, Sony's earnings report for the fiscal fourth quarter and full year ending on March 31 has been revealed. As of that date, the company has shipped 2.9 million PlayStation 4 units in the past three months alone, which is up 2.3 million from last year.

For the entire year, April 1 2016 – March 31, 2017, Sony has shipped a total of 20 million PS4 units. Last year, it was 17.7 million.

With these numbers tallied up to previous years, the total number of PS4s shipped over its lifetime is now 60 million. This year, Sony predicts 18 million units will sell this fiscal year.

It's entirely possible that the spike in PS4 sales over the past three months is because PlayStation is currently dominating the market with titles such as Persona 5 and Horizon: Zero Dawn. Not to mention Final Fantasy XV, while available on Xbox One, most likely sold a number of PS4s around its release.
