PS4’s Shadow of the Colossus officially dubbed a “Remake” by Sony President

As opposed to Remaster.

Among their many announcements, Sony managed to sneak in a reveal for Shadow of the Colossus coming to PS4, though they didn't talk much about it at all. In an interview with Famitsu, Sony President Shuhei Yoshida confirmed that the game is a full blown Remake, and not a Remaster.

When asked, he said:

“It is a remake. The game content is the same as the original version, but all the assets are being remade. I figured we could use such tech to make if we’re going to make Shadow of the Colossus in the PS4 era. Bluepoint is the development company behind the PS3 remaster versions of ICO and Shadow of the Colossus. So we know them rather well.”

Shadow of the Colossus had previously gotten an HD Remaster in the form of the Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collection which came out on PS3 back in 2011. Curiously, the Collection can no longer be purchased digitally on PSN, which now makes a little more sense with this reveal.

Shadow of the Colossus will come to PS4 sometime in 2018.
