PS4 Share Play can confuse your console into downloading a patch for a game you don’t own

After trying out Share Play extensively earlier today with a few titles like Lords of the Fallen, Destiny, Spelunky and Resogun, I was contacted by Joe, the colleague who tested the features with me, that his PlayStation 4 is now downloading a 4.7GB update file for Lords of the Fallen, a game he doesn't own.

In our test, I turned on Share Play, and virtually passed the controller to him while he ran around for 10 minutes trying to find enemies (they magically disappeared for some reason). After quitting Share Play, a shortcut for Lords of the Fallen was created on his homepage, though it lead straight to the store page for the game, you know, in case he wanted to buy it.

However, after a few hours passed, Joe stated that his PlayStation 4 was in the process of downloading the day one update for Lords of the Fallen, which just happens to be nearly 5GB big. But why? He doesn't own the game. Even when he played it for those 10 minutes, he was essentially streaming it from my console, under my PSN ID. And yet for some reason the download auto-initiated as though he owned the game.

We're not sure whether this is a widespread issue among other games, or if this was a one off, but we felt it was odd enough to share with you, and maybe have you guys keep a lookout if something similar is happening after using Share Play with a buddy. Let us know.
