PS4 top selling home gaming console in US for December

Sony celebrated the end of 2016 in style as the PS4 was the best selling home gaming console in the United States in December.

The new data from industry tracking firm NPD Group gives the PS4 the edge over the Xbox One for the month after it also took the top spot in November thanks to the PS4 Pro.

Although no exact sales figures were released, it’s been a great 2016 for Sony as the company has already shipped more than 50 million PS4s in its lifetime. It also helped that high profile console exclusives like Uncharted 4 and The Last Guardian were released last year.

Sony is hoping to get 2017 off to an even faster start as high profile exclusives like Horizon: Zero Dawn, Gran Turismo Spot, and NieR: Automata are set to release this year.
