PS4 tops sales charts in July 2015

Must be nice.

In April of this year the Xbox One officially took the lead as best-selling console in the United States, unfortunately its run as number one in sales was short-lived. The PlayStation 4 took the lead in sales in May and once again in June.

According to The NDP Group Sony's platform has once again outsold the Xbox One and the Wii U. While sales are high for the PlayStation 4, NPD analyst Liam Callahan offered a little insight on the hardware sales. Both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are outselling their former consoles by nearly 50% (when numbers are combined).

“After 21 months, combined Xbox One and PS4 hardware unit sales are close to 50 percent higher than the combined sales of Xbox 360 and PS3 after 21 months on the market,” said Callahan.

Microsoft has already said they don't care about PS4 sales, and things aren't  as bleak as the last three months in sales would make it out to be. Not only are sales higher this generation, the outlook for the Xbox One's growth is positive.

Xbox One and Xbox Live continued to see strong sales and engagement in July,” Xbox marketing boss Mike Nichols said in a statement. “Xbox One sales in the U.S. [were] up 44 percent over July 2014 and active global Xbox Live users — Xbox One and Xbox 360 — up 22 percent."

As for what games sold well last month, Warner Bros. is patting themselves on the back right now.
