A new firmware update (version 2.04) for the PlayStation 4 is now live in some regions, but more importantly, it appears some users are having problems downloading it.
While we personally had no problem download the update, a quick search around the interwebs reveals a number of claims that PSN crashed when attempting to download the update. Users on Twitter, Reddit, and NeoGAF have all reported problems, with some referencing error codes "SU-30709-0" and "CE-32937-4," the latter of which stands for "Failed to download data." Obviously.
Although the update worked for us, and we are able to connect to PSN following the download, I'd recommend staying away from this until all of the issues are fixed. For what it's worth, Sony has assured their engineers are investigating the case.
Just another day in the life of a PlayStation owner. A few months ago, PS4 update 2.0 caused widespread PSN outages, so really this is nothing new for us. By now we should all be used to this.
