PlayStation 4 error "CE-34878-0" appears to be a problem that's growing among early adopters of Sony's new console. First reported back in December 2013, the error results in the game becoming completely unplayable, with some users reporting a deletion of all save game data due to corruption.
The now 34-page thread on the PlayStation Forum is filled with users reporting problems across several games in PS4 library, including NBA 2K14, Battlefield 4, Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, and Call of Duty: Ghosts. As Joystiq reports, the error can also prevent a user from starting any application on the PS4, rendering the console completely unusable.
We've yet to experience this sort of error on our office PlayStation 4's, but I'm not about to call 34-pages worth of reports totally bogus. This certainly appears to be a widespread problem that Sony hopefully addresses sooner rather than later.
