Epic Games followers would do well to steer clear of any emails from the studio until further notice, as it is currently experiencing a phishing attack which has resulted in the distribution of an undisclosed number of messages containing harmful links.
The studio didn’t go into the details in its tweet regarding the situation, but did promise that it is currently investigating and working to resolve the matter. In the meantime, avoid any and all emails said to have originated from the studio, as some malware and computer viruses can be triggered by just opening a message. The safest path is to immediately delete any messages you believe to be malicious.
The question is, how do we know Epic Games’ Twitter account hasn’t been taken over as well? Easy: phishers aren’t this clever:
@EpicGames @ChAIRGAMES If this scam email promises me Shadow Complex 2, I’m clicking it anyway.
