PSA: Destiny is offline for the next six hours

Yesterday, Bungie revealed that they would be taking Destiny down for a planned six hour maintenance — the time has come, the servers are down. According to Bungie, servers will be back in business at some time around 2:00pm PDT (5:00pm EDT).

During Destiny's down time, some Bungie.net sign-in and Companion app services might be restricted. If you were logged in before the maintenance began, well, you found out that servers were going down the hard way.

Today's maintenance is likely in preparation for September 8th's update that will not only require a bunch of room on your console, but also render the game unplayable if you do not update. When the date rolls around, make sure you have 10GB of room on the Xbox 360, 20GB on your PlayStation 3, and 60GB on both the Xbox One and PS4. If you do not have enough room on your Xbox 360 or PS3, Bungie has some recommendations for you.
