It has been a while since the last Star Trek show aired on television but the wait is finally over, the highly anticipated Star Trek Discovery is finally available on a streaming service near you!
Star Trek Discovery takes place ten years before Kirk, Spock, Bones, and the Enterprise, and viewers will follow a 15 episode story ark about the crew of the Discovery. The Discovery will be doing exactly what its name suggests, it will be discovering new worlds and alien races while probably breaking a bunch of Starfleet protocols in the process. Apparently, according to the description, "one Starfleet officer learns to understand all things alien" as well.
The show will be set in the Star Trek Prime timeline rather than the Kelvin timeline invented by JJ Abrams for the movies. As of now, the show has gotten adequate reviews with most criticism being about "it not being Star Trek." Star Trek Discovery currently holds a 7.0/10 on IMDB and a 74/100 on Metacritic.
The brand new Star Trek Discovery will be available on CBS All Access for U.S. and Canadian audiences while most international audiences (with reservations for your region not being included) will be able to stream the show on Netflix. As an added bonus, the international audience will be able to watch Star Trek Discovery with Klingon subtitles. Neat!
Each Monday a new episode will become available, first on CBS All Access and then a few hours later on Netflix. Check out the trailer below for yourself and see if it floats your goat.
