Surprise! Sony has just announced that PlayStation Network will be down later tonight as they perform maintenance.
Maintenance will begin tonight (Thursday, October 30) at approximately 9:00pm Pacific and will end "around" 11:00pm PDT. During this period, you may receive a message that states "Sony Entertainment Network is undergoing maintenance" when attempting to access the PlayStation Store or PlayStation Home.
Sony says the maintenance is necessary "to continue to deliver you the best online games experience." Continue? Really? Can they say that after the whole debacle with this week's PS4 system update? I'd prefer them say something along the lines of "To attempt to deliver you the best online games experience we're making ___ improvements."
In any case, if you notice any problems with PSN tonight, you now know why. And even though they say it should end around 11:00pm PDT, expect a delay. It is Sony after all.
