PSVR games under 60FPS will ‘probably’ be rejected by Sony

During a GDC talk, Sony engineer Chris Norden discussed the minimum requirements developers need to meet in order to get their games on the PlayStation VR. Norden said that any game on PSVR will need to run at least 60 FPS in order to achieve the experience Sony wants.

"Frame rate is really important; you cannot drop below 60 frames per second, ever," Norden said, "If you submit a game to us and it drops to 55, or 51…we're probably going to reject it. I know I'm going to get flak for this, but there's no excuse for not hitting frame rate."

"It's really hard, and I'm not going to lie to and say it's extremely easy…it's really difficult," he explained. "60hz is the minimum acceptable framerate. Everybody drill that into your heads."

PlayStation VR will launch sometime in October with a starting at $399.99. The basic bundle will not include the PlayStation Camera (which is required) or the PlayStation Move controllers, but Sony says a bundle is on the way to give players anything they need for the best PSVR experience. There are also plenty of titles coming down the pipeline with PSVR, so it's safe to say Sony is very serious about this product and don't plan to give up on it anytime soon.
