PlayStation VR released earlier this week and many players are discovering a number of features and experiencing this brand new technology! PSVR is the first VR headset for consoles and Microsoft is planning VR capability on their Xbox Scorpio that will release until next year, but until then, we have an alternative for Xbox players.
To an extent, PSVR can be used on Xbox One and even Wii U. To be clear, these other platforms won't have full VR immersion or any of the motion control capabilities. PSVR can be used as a second screen to watch films and play PS4 games, meaning you won't be able to use your head to move your in-game character's around if you're playing a game like Halo in PSVR. It's just a second screen! It's still a cool way to experience some of your Xbox One games like Forza Horizon 3 and Halo 5, but don't go out and buy a PSVR just to use it on your Xbox One!
To use PSVR on your Xbox One, all you have to do is plug the PSVR's HDMI cord into the Xbox One and you're done! Polygon reports that games don't look as great as they would on your television as they're super close up to your face instead of at a distance on a large TV, but it's better than nothing if someone else is taking up the TV and you want to play a game!
Although it works on Wii U and Xbox One, it does not work on PC whatsoever. So if you want VR on your PC, you'll have to get an Oculus or HTC Vive.
PSVR is out now for $399 and retailers still have some units available but I wouldn't expect those to last much longer, if you want one, scoop one while you can!
