PUBG appears to run at ‘Very Low’ settings on Xbox One

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) finally arrived on the Xbox One via Game Preview earlier this week and to the dismay of many, its performance is a bit sporadic. The difference in performance between PUBG's PC counterpart and Xbox One have been noted by plenty of players.

Some players have noticed that when you hook up a USB keyboard to the Xbox One and hit the "O" while in a match in PUBG it brings up the game's options, just as it does in the PC version. In doing so, players discovered that PUBG is set to 'Very Low' quality on the Xbox One and 'Medium' on the Xbox One X.

Some have suggested that BlueHole and the development team are trying to keep the game consistent across all consoles so that nobody has an edge depending on the power behind their console. However, this isn't supported by how the PC version allows players to set their own graphics settings. A player with a beast machine can turn up the quality while someone running on an older rig plays at lower quality.

BlueHole hasn't addressed the performance issued for the Xbox One version head on yet, but they're likely to say the game is currently available through Xbox's Game Preview program and that it does not represent the final version.

When we hear more, we'll let you know. As for now, some players have found turning off DVR offers smoother gameplay.

I've played PUBG on both an Xbox One S and X and while the X version is clearly sharper, it is not on par with the PC version, which we know from the X's hardware, should be possible or at the very least, close.
