Developer Bluehole has announced a major campaign by the studio to fix Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds, PUBG. The new initiative, dubbed FIX PUBG, is aimed to eradicate bugs, add quality-of-life improvements and enhance the performance of the game across the PC and Xbox One versions of the game.
In a new post on PUBG’s website and the Steam Community forums, developer Bluehole declared the company’s new mid-term goal of polishing and improving the cult multiplayer phenomenon game up to the community’s and the studio’s standard.
“FIX THE GAME. This is a phrase we’ve been hearing a lot lately. Since we released PUBG as an Early Access game last year, the game has grown exponentially, and we’ve been fortunate enough to have millions of incredibly passionate players like you. However, we haven’t always been able to meet your expectations. Simply put, the game still has many unresolved issues.” – Bluehole
Indeed, PUBG has long been hampered by a plethora of bugs and inconsistent performance not on par with other massively successful online multiplayer games. These types of games usually aim to achieve maximum coverage across the gaming platforms and playability on all kinds of PCs to secure a large player base. Games like Dota 2, LoL, Counter-Strike GO and many more are intentionally not always on the cutting edge of visual fidelity to make them be enjoyed and played by as many players as possible. This is usually a bigger concern on the PC platform of course, with an almost unlimited amount of PC configurations and performance capabilities. Nonetheless, even the Xbox One version of PUBG didn’t really set the world on fire with great performance.
This and more are now the major concerns the developers at Bluehole are trying to iron out. The FIX PUBG campaign starts off today with a first patch which includes following changes:
This is only the beginning however as Bluehole openly states the campaign to be a months-long effort with PUBG planned to receive many updates.
