PUBG is getting an extensive Training Mode in September

Giant training area for every game mechanic

PUBG, or if you prefer the ridiculously long actual name Playerunknown’s Battleground, is set to receive an entirely new Training Mode this September. Developer Bluehole detailed their plan in a new blog post on Steam to improve the player experience and give new players a chance to acclimate to the game’s mechanics while at the same time offering veterans an arena where they can prefect certain skills.

Bluehole just recently announced their new campaign to “Fix PUBG” with a comprehensive and long new development effort. Whether it is the plethora of bugs, lack of polish or simply inadequate performance, players of the battle royale game at the moment have been hammering on the developer for not taking care of basics while pursuing lucrative in-game monetization and the mobile industry.

After months upon months of what looked to be unheard player demands, PUBG plummeted down in user reviews on Steam and is currently at a pretty bad 49% Positive Reviews and even more catastrophic 39% Recent Reviews. Usually games hanging around these review scores get shunned harshly but the truth is, PUBG is still being regularly played by an insane number of players every day. People do like that game, they just are fed up with the developer’s work.

Fix PUBG is Bluehole’s answer to the situation. And today, we learn of one of the early fruits the effort is bearing. The extensive Training Mode announced today will feature a bevy of options for players to hone their skills and get used to the game’s mechanics. The very nature of the battle royale genre meant for many players having only little time to learn the ropes of each weapon, vehicle and tactic, with the majority of players dying very quickly into a match.

With the Training Mode, this should be improved drastically. A new 2×2 km large playground will offer various aspects of a regular PUBG match isolated for intensive training. Race, off-road and stunt tracks will give players the chance to improve driving skills. Parachute landing locations to have a potentially better start in a match. Shooting ranges to master weapons at various distances. Intimate combat areas to learn the quirks of CQC or Close Quarter Combat. Places to train melee combat, throwable ranges for grenades and even a water section for marine vehicles.

The list of options in the new Training Mode is impressive and looks to become exactly what many players have been asking for a long time. Check out the blog post for more details and learn more about the Fix PUBG campaign here.
