PUBG listed for PS4 by Korean Ratings Board

While PlayStation fans have long moved on to games like Fortnite and H1Z1, it appears battle royale trendsetter PUBG is coming to PlayStation 4. There has been some confusion regarding the exclusivity for the acclaimed shooter on Xbox and while nothing has been announced, it seems that a PS4 version is on the table.

The Korean Ratings board has officially classified PUBG as “Not for Youth” on PlayStation 4 in Korea, while this could be an error typically games aren’t listed on a ratings board unless it is indeed coming to the platform due to the submission process by developers. You can view the game’s official description from the Korean Ratings board below.

“Survival FPS, who has become the last survivor on the isolated island to play for victory

* Excessive violence expression
– Violence expression through realistic weaponry and red blood color expression accordingly

Therefore, Article 21 and grade According to Article 7 (4) of the Classification Regulations, it is decided to classify as ‘Not for Youth’.”

It should be noted Xbox One exclusive Sunset Overdrive was listed for a PC release by the same ratings board just before E3 this year but nothing actually came of it.

It’s entirely possible that PUBG’s Xbox exclusivity lasted only through the game’s early access period and is looking to come to other consoles now that it has officially hit 1.0 and gotten a full release on both PC and Xbox. A recent behind the scenes video at the team’s studio also allowed viewers to catch a glance at a PlayStation 4 on someone’s desk.

While that may be us grasping at straws, it seems like pretty good evidence that the popular survival game is coming to Sony’s console. As of right now, PUBG still has some kinks to work out on Xbox One but it’s significantly better than when it launched last December.

The 1.0 update on Xbox One brought a new map, new weapons, vehicles, more customization options, and more features will be coming in the future. If PUBG is coming to PlayStation 4, we’d expect an announcement sooner rather than later. If anything does get announced, we’ll be sure to let you know.

PUBG is out now on Xbox One and PC.
