PS4 is expanding its indie roster yet again with the impending addition of Q.U.B.E., a first-person puzzle platformer from Toxic Games. Q.U.B.E. will be a cross-buy title between PS3 and PS4 when it releases Tuesday, July 21, 2015.
For its console debut, Q.U.B.E. will be dolled up in its Director's Cut, something of a definitive edition handled by publisher Grip Games. The Director's Cut introduces a new story by Rob Yescombe (The Division, Crysis 2) as well as a new soundtrack. Added gameplay mode Against the Qlock, a time-trial affair packing 10 new levels, will also be included. And for visual sticklers: Q.U.B.E. Director's Cut will run at 1080p/60FPS (at least on PS4) thanks to Unreal Engine.
Q.U.B.E sees players use a pair of hi-tech gloves to navigate increasingly convoluted environmental puzzles amid a strikingly contrasted world. The original story involved escaping a space station hurtling towards Earth in an effort to save the planet, but who knows what Yescombe has cooked up.
A price for Q.U.B.E Director's Cut has not yet been given, but judging from its PC counterpart, it will sit somewhere in the $10 range.
