Racing wheel manufacturer prematurely announces Forza Motorsport 7

It might not be the biggest surprise in the gaming world that another Forza Motorsport game would be created, but it has nevertheless been probably prematurely announced by a racing wheel manufacturer.

As per usual with these surprise reveals, it was a third party who probably said more than he probably should have. Thomas Jackermeier, CEO of Fanatec, made a post on their forum titled "Wishlist for FM7 UPDATE" which asked users what their wishlist for a new racing wheel for "FM7" was and what features they would like to see supported. It is only fair to assume that "FM7" stands for the yet to be announced Forza Motorsport 7, especially since he also mentioned working with Turn 10 in the same post, the developers of the Forza game.

The forum post was later updated by Jackermeier where he revealed that they had had a "very good" meeting with Turn 10 and that chances are high that things will turn out for the better with wheel support in FM7. Turn 10 is aware of the PC market being dominated by wheel users so to make sure that they will be able to deliver as great an experience possible there is a new "wheel guy" on the team with a racing background who is responsible for making sure that the feeling is just right in FM7.

"There is a new person who is responsible for physics and force feedback and this is a "wheel guy". He is a real world racer with car engineering background and very familiar with PC simracing.

The PC market seems very important for them and they are aware that this market is dominated by wheel users. Therefore  we will intensify our co-operation and get the best out of the games for wheel users."

This should be great news for fans of the racing genre, especially those playing on PC since Turn 10 is working together with one of the biggest manufacturers of racing wheels to be able to deliver the best experience possible.

No release date was revealed by Fanatec, but if you want to give your two bits on what you would like to see in Forza Motorsport 7 when it comes to wheel support then head over to the Fanatec forum. It is safe to assume that it will be a while until FM 7 gets released since Turn 10 is still focusing on Forza Horizon 3. Though this is confirmation that Forza Motorsport will come to PC as well.

While waiting for the next Forza game to come out, why not check out our review for the latest installment in the series, Forza Horizon 3.
