Rainbow Six Seige gets new limited-time Outbreak event and a price hike!

Entering its third year in release, Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Siege seems to really be hitting its stride. It was just announced that as part of their “Year 3” plan, Ubisoft is going to include a new four-week long event called Outbreak. Outbreak is essentially a co-op horde mode with waves of enemies. The event will also have its own loot boxes, that will only drop cosmetic items and Ubisoft says, those boxes will not drop duplicates. Along with the new limited-time event, Year 3 will include 8 new operators.

With all the new content and now that the game is more or less a hit, thanks to Twitch streaming and a strong community, Ubisoft is jacking up the price on their available versions. The “starter edition” which gives players access to all the maps, but slows down the progression of unlocking operators, will remain $15. The now “standard” edition, which currently retails for $40, which includes all the starter pack stuff, but shortens the time to unlock operators and includes 600 Rainbow Six credits (only a $5 value) and 10 loot boxes for Outbreak, has been renamed the “Advanced version” and increased to $60. The gold edition has been increased to $90 (formerly $70) and the complete edition is now $130 (formerly $90).

The price hike hasn’t kicked off yet, so if you’ve been on the fence about playing Rainbow Six Siege, now is the time to buy.

As a side note, for those of you with an Xbox One X and/or a PS4 Pro who’ve been wondering where their “enhanced” update is, Ubisoft says that it’s in the works, but they don’t have an ETA on when it will be ready. Meanwhile, other Ubisoft titles like Assassin’s Creed: Origins and For Honor have already been updated for 4K and HDR.
