Rayman Legends dev team protests game’s delay

Several members of the Rayman Legends development team including Michel Ancel, the Rayman creator himself, have staged a protest in light of the game's delay. Last week, Ubisoft announced Rayman Legends will also be coming to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. For some odd reason, the new platform announcement also coincided with news that the game will be delayed until September 2013. This seemed especially strange, considering Rayman Legends was due out for the Wii U this month.

Much to our surprise, the decision to delay the game's release was out of the developers' hands. One anonymous Rayman Legends developer explained the team was just as frustrated as fans about the delay and urged gamers not to take out their frustration on the game. Recognizing fan frustration, Ubisoft attempted to patch things over with a Wii U-exclusive demo.

Which brings us to today, and a newly newly published photo of Ancel and his team. In the picture, the group of developers appear to be holding a sign that reads: "Sortez nous Rayman. Soutient a Ubi Montpellier."

Thanks to a translation from Eurogamer, we know that it means: "Release Rayman. Support Ubisoft Montpelier." The poster also has a drawing of Rayman's face with tears and a speech bubble that says "SVP" – "please." In the background of the poster you'll see crowds holding banners that read "Wii U", "Rayman", "Michel Ancel" and "28/02/13."

It'll certainly be interesting to see Ubisoft's official response to the photo — especially now that we have proof the developers at Ubisoft Montepelier are unhappy with the decision to push the game back.
