Rayman Legends includes 40 Origins levels as a courtesy

Ubisoft Montpellier is continuing to show generosity toward Wii U owners after it pushed back the release date of Rayman Legends so the game could launch simultaneously on multiple platforms.

Rayman Legends is a Wii U exclusive no longer, but the developer has been amending for that decision by offering free challenge maps to players while they wait for the September release date to roll around. Now series creator Michel Ancel has revealed that Legends will include 40 levels from Rayman Origins, the previous title, so that Wii U players can catch up with the series.

Origins came out on a number of platforms, but not Wii U. Ubisoft wanted to include an unlockable "Back to Origins" chapter to make up for that, enabling “players to play the game in HD, and because it was already done, we gave them away for free," Ancel told Shacknews.

These are remastered levels from the original game, included just for Wii U players. But anyone playing on any other platform — PlayStation 3, PS Vita, and Xbox 360 — can enjoy them. The stages now benefit from the new lighting engine and integrate touch features for Murfy in the Wii U and Vita versions. The levels were remodeled so that "players who already knew these levels would still be entertained when playing them."

Rayman Legends debuts on September 3.
