Over the past few years, game developers have turned their attention to one of the biggest and most accessible markets there is – the mobile gaming market. There are millions of iOS and Android users across the globe and almost all of them have access to download/purchasing mobile games.
With such a huge market, it's no surprise that game makers are looking to get smartphone owners invested in their games.
It looks like game developers won't be the only ones looking to make a name for themselves amongst smartphone owners. Razer, a fairly well-known game peripheral creator, is looking to expand their reach with a smartphone of their own, one that focuses on gaming.
CEO and co-founder of Razer, Min-Liang Tan, appeared on CNBC's Managing Asia (via GI Biz) to officially announce Razer's plans to release a gaming-focused smartphone.
"Mobile gaming is getting massive everywhere – US, Europe, China – and we hope to have products to serve the mobile gamer everywhere in the world.
One of the most hotly rumored things about Razer is that we're coming up with a mobile device. And I can say that we are coming up with a mobile device specifically geared toward gamers and entertainment.
We're hoping to have it come… by the end of the year, so that's something we're working on."
With mobile gaming being increasingly popular with the help of Nintendo and Square Enix creating mobile-only games, there's a chance that Razer's device could go far.
