Recently revived System Shock 2 is now on Steam

Night Dive Studio dusted off the previously rare and disc-only System Shock 2 in February, rereleasing it exclusively on GOG's digital platform. Now the survival-horror game has made the jump to Steam as well.

System Shock 2 is currently selling at the promotional price of $6.99. After next Friday, May 17, the cost will increase to $9.99.

The highly influential cult classic, which debuted in 1999, has won a number of Game of the Year awards and laid the groundwork for Irrational Games' BioShock series. Now it's up and working on modern Windows operating systems.

Players explore a spaceship in distress, learning the stories of its slaughtered crew and upgrading their cybernetic implants — similar to plasmids or vigors in BioShock — for more power.
