After failing to take off like fellow spiritual successor Kickstarters Yooka-Laylee, Bloodstained, Shenmue 3, and Comcept's own Mighty No. 9, Red Ash looked like it wasn't going to succeed. It had slightly more than half of its goal with only four days left.
It's not surprising that Red Ash's poorly planned Kickstarter didn't take off like the others, but it was surprising that it looked like it wasn't even going to hit its original goal, let alone any stretch goals. At least that was the case before Chinese digital entertainment company Fuze came into the picture. Fuze is now partnering with Comcept to make sure Red Ash the Indelible Legend is going to be made in its entirety.
Red Ash will now be published on PC, PS4, and XB1. What of the Kickstarter money that fans put in? The creators say that 100% of the donated cash will go towards adding content to the game, with revised stretch goals coming for its final days.
There was also a mockup of the game that was recently released for players to get a feel for the game's nature. It's available for free here.
It's great to know the game will be coming, but how do you feel about the manner in which it came about? Let us know in the comments section below.
