‘Red Dawn’ remake starring Chris Hemsworth gets a new poster

Finally! A movie that's been on my radar for a while (unlike the North Koreans on the U.S. radar) got a poster! Red Dawn is a remake of the original 1984 movie starring Patrick Swayze and Charlie Sheen. The cast for Red Dawn has its box office star power in Chris Hemsworth (Thor, The Avengers, Snow White and the Huntsman) and Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games). It has a PG-13 rating, so you can expect fans of those two actors to see the movie, and then you'll get the nostalgic crowd and the action fans. There's nothing like watching a patriotic action movie when United States citizens fight for their country.

The official synopsis of Red Dawn is:

In Red Dawn, a city in Washington state awakens to the surreal sight of foreign paratroopers dropping from the sky – shockingly, the U.S. has been invaded and their hometown is the initial target. Quickly and without warning, the citizens find themselves prisoners and their town under enemy occupation. Determined to fight back, a group of young patriots seek refuge in the surrounding woods, training and reorganizing themselves into a guerilla group of fighters. Taking inspiration from their high school mascot, they call themselves the Wolverines, banding together to protect one another, liberate their town from its captors, and take back their freedom.

The movie also stars Josh Peck, who I havne't seen in anything since Drake & Josh; Adrianne Palicki, from the Friday Night Lights tv show and was suppose to be Wonder Woman on tv; Isabel Lucas, the hot blonde from Transformers that tries to seduce Shia; and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who was the Comedian in Watchmen and will be playing an American soldier.

I have high hopes for this remake, unlike the Total Recall remake that bombed. I think the cast is excellent and I'm looking forward to see how they change the plot. Red Dawn actually filmed in 2009, but due to MGM's financial troubles, it hasn't really been touched. That and the filmmakers decided to change the movie's villains from the Chinese to North Korea. Hemsworth is tasked with the problem of trying to out-do Patrick Swayze, who played the same character in the 1984 version. His younger brother was played by Charlie Sheen, who is now played by Josh Peck.

Red Dawn opens in theaters November 21, 2012.
