We are 9 days away from what is arguably the biggest game of 2018, Red Dead Redemption 2. This sequel to Rockstar’s acclaimed open-world western will be the studio’s first new game in five years and be their first game built from the ground up on Xbox One and PS4.
It’s been a long wait since its announcement in October 2016 but after many long droughts without news, screenshots, or videos, Rockstar began ramping up the marketing this year with several juicy videos pertaining to story and gameplay. Rockstar will be giving us one last look at the game before it launches next Friday with the game’s launch trailer tomorrow morning (October 18th) at 10 AM ET.
We don’t know how long it will be or what it will contain but it’ll likely give us more details on the story surrounding the fall of Dutch’s gang. Rockstar has worked on the western epic for the last 7 – 8 years with co-founder Dan Houser saying his senior writing team of four people contributed 100 hour work weeks in 2018 alone. Houser later stated after some controversy surrounding the statement that this was not representative of the entirety of Rockstar’s development team, just his core group of writers over the course of three weeks as they wrapped up on the game.
Red Dead Redemption 2 will be roughly 65 hours long and contains a massive script of over 2,000 pages for the main story alone. Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser said that if you stacked the scripts for the main story, the NPC dialogue, and other various pieces of writing for the game, it would be 8 feet tall.
Red Dead Redemption 2 will also contain an online mode set to launch in beta this November. Details are scarce about the mode but it’ll likely follow a similar format and structure to GTA Online.
We’ll be sure to post the launch trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 here on GameZone once it goes live tomorrow morning. You can begin pre-loading the game this Friday at 12 AM ET on Xbox One or PS4 to bypass waiting for it to download when the game officially releases, something we highly recommend doing because it’s just shy of 90 GBs on both Xbox One and PS4.
Red Dead Redemption 2 will officially drop on October 26th, 2018 for Xbox One and PS4.
