Red Dead Redemption 2 gets photo mode and new story content on Xbox

A world that's ripe for photo opportunities!

Red Dead Redemption 2 released well-over a year ago but Rockstar Games is still actively supporting it with worthwhile content. Last year, Rockstar released a meaty photo mode for PC and PS4 along with some extra new story content and it has finally come to Xbox One.

If you own Red Dead Redemption 2 for Xbox One, you can download the 3GB update right now. The photo mode offers a lot of freedom for capturing action shots, peaceful moments on the frontier, or something in between. You have access to filters, lenses, and the ability to control other details to create the perfect picture.

To access the photo mode, simply pause the game at any time and press the button next to the start button (what used to be the ‘select button). If you’re not keen on replaying the entire story to really test the photo mode, there’s a plethora of new story content to play around with. You’ll find new bounties, gang hideouts, and more. You can get the full rundown below.

  • 3 Story Mode Bounty Hunter Missions
  • 2 Story Mode Gang Hideouts
  • 2 Story Mode Treasure Maps
  • “To The Ends of The Earth” Story Mode Mission
  • 4 Weapons Added to Story Mode
  • 7 Horse Breeds Added to Story Mode
  • 5 Hidden Trinkets Added to Story Mode

Red Dead Redemption 2’s Online mode also got new content (not new to PS4) such as new apparel, emotes, and the Beaver Hallow hideout.

Apparel:

  • Salizzo Double Bandolier
  • Rulfo Boots
  • Starrett Hat
  • Gordillo Half-Chaps

Emotes:

  • Hat Flick
  • Howl
  • Jovial Laugh
  • Subtle Wave
  • You vs Me

Rockstar is also offering 50% XP boosts for A Land of Opportunities missions along with discounts on munitions and weapon upgrades. For players that hit rank 10 and 20 before January 27th, you’ll be eligible to discounts on a weapon and horse of your choice respectively.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is out now on Xbox One, PS4, PC, and Google Stadia.
