Red Dead Redemption 2 was regarded as one of the best games of 2018 for a number of reasons. It has an incredibly rich story that only a few games can rival, it’s loaded with worthwhile content, and it nailed one of the most important elements of a western: the music.
Rockstar’s western sequel taps into a very specific emotional moment from the first game and echoes it several times in Red Dead Redemption 2. Fans remember the ride from America to Mexico in the first game as one of the most iconic moments of the last generation.
It was the mid-point of the game and marked a pivotal narrative shift, it also offered a moment of silence and thought while it played a somber but incredibly memorable song titled “Far Away”. Red Dead Redemption 2 sought to include more moments like that, specifically in the latter half of the game during key moments in the story.
Now, you can finally listen to those great songs on their own. Rockstar Games has released the Red Dead Redemption 2 original soundtrack produced by 11-time Grammy winner Daniel Lanois. The 13 song album includes both instrumental and lyrical songs such as Willie Nelson’s Cruel World and D’Angelo’s Unshaken.
The album is out now and you can either purchase it digitally or stream it from Apple Music or Spotify.
Red Dead Redemption 2’s incredibly atmospheric and gripping score composed by Woody Jackson will also be available later this summer. You can view the tracklist for the original soundtrack tracklist below.
