Red Dead Redemption 2’s acclaimed song, “Unshaken”, now on Spotify

Amidst a crash of worlds.

Red Dead Redemption 2 had a lot going for it, even before it released. The first Rockstar game built for current gen, a follow-up to one of the most beloved games, and a rich open world filled with all sorts of new gameplay opportunities. Many people had an idea of what to expect going in given Rockstar’s caliber but something that caught a lot of people off-guard was the music.

On top of Woody Jackson’s fantastic score, there’s a number of original songs from many acclaimed artists that play during key story beats. One of these songs is known as “Unshaken” by singer D’Angelo, an artist no one would’ve ever guessed was doing an original song for a western.

The song captures the resilience of Arthur Morgan and his struggle to maintain unshaken during his tortured arc throughout the story which challenges his morals, loyalties, and fundamental understanding of the world he lives in. It’s a perfectly fitting song, one that tonally harkens back to the first game’s song “Far Away” which plays as John Marston enters Mexico for the first time.

The song is D’Angelo’s first since 2014 and after much demand has now been released as a single on Spotify and other streaming services. You can also find a goosebump-inducing live performance of a handful of Red Dead Redemption 2’s songs from The Game Awards down below which includes Unshaken.

Rockstar has been teasing news regarding a release of Red Dead Redemption 2’s soundtrack for a while now and hopefully that the release of this beloved song is a sign that the full album isn’t too far off. The full game features songs from the likes of Willie Nelson, Rhiannon Giddens, and more. We’ll continue to keep you posted on any updates that follow.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is out now on Xbox One and PS4, we called it “Rockstar’s undisputed masterpiece” in our glowing 10/10 review back in October.
