Red Faction Guerrilla Re-Marstered Edition gets launch date trailer

Space..... guy!

Publisher THQ Nordic has released a new trailer for the remastered version of Red Faction Guerrilla. Titled “Re-Marstered Edition”, as a comedic hint for the location the game is set in, Red Faction Guerrilla Re-Marstered Edition will release on July 3rd on PC, Xbox One and PS4.

The remaster will feature fully reworked graphics, improved shadow rendering, improved lighting, reworked shaders, postprocessing and native 4K resolution support according to the publisher. In a surprisingly welcoming way, THQ Nordic will also give the remaster to previous owners of Red Faction Guerrilla on Steam for free!

Red Faction Guerrilla was originally developed by Volition and released way back in 2009 to great reviews and was widely lauded for its comprehensive destruction system and fun gameplay while leaving something to be desired in the story aspect. The game is set on Mars and puts the player in the role of Alec Mason, a worker newly arrived at the red planet who quickly ends up joining the rebel group “Red Faction” whose goal it is to overthrow the oppressive “Earth Defense Force”.

The third entry in the Red Faction series also marked the first time that a game in the franchise was a third-person open-world game and not a linear first-person shooter. It also remains the only Red Faction game that has an open-world since the developer decided to return to a linear game design with the next and last installment, Red Faction Armageddon in 2011. Sadly, that game did not become a success and with the shortly thereafter bankruptcy of THQ in 2013, no new game in the Red Faction series ever came out. Publisher Nordic Games seized the opportunity and bought THQ the same year and renamed themselves later to THQ Nordic.
