Nintendo has promised that they will ramp up production on Nintendo Switch in an effort to try and meet demand this Holiday Season, but Reggie Fils-Aime isn't promising that it will be enough. The console has sold well above projections with an apparent goal to move 10 million units for the fiscal year, and with the demand for the console, that shouldn't be a problem.
However, Reggie isn't committing to the promise that everyone who wants a Switch will get one. At Variety‘s Entertainment and Tech Summit, he said "“Certainly the demand is there, and our supply chain is there,” for the company to hit the 10 million mark.
But:
"Are we going to have enough for the holiday? That’s what we are focused on."
This isn't necessarily an admission of defeat, but the task of making sure the Nintendo Switch is readily available is undoubtedly a work in progress.
Between The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Splatoon 2, Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, and the yet-to-be-released Super Mario Odyssey, there's plenty of reason to think that the demand for the Nintendo Switch hasn't even hit its highest point yet, so trying to match their supply is little more than a glorified guessing game.
