There were previously talks going around the good ol' internet about the Wii U potentially offering GameCube games through its Virtual Console service. Because the upcoming platform won't offer backward compatibility with Nintendo's Wii predecessor, this seemed like a decent alternative.
Unfortunately, nothing is set in stone just yet, but Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime would certainly like for the Wii U's retro game download service to include GameCube classics. "That is a great question," the popular internet meme told Kotaku. "And personally I would love for that to happen, but we have nothing to announce right now."
Well, that may not be the answer that a lot of diehard GameCube lovers wanted to hear, but I still think it's better than a definite "no." Let's hope it happens, though, because the GameCube was a highly underrated console with some truly stellar hits. I own pretty much every GameCube title I've ever wanted with the exception of, like, two, but I would still like for some classics to be playable by folks who missed out on them the first time around.
