It has been rumored that Destiny's next expansion will be titled The Taken King, whether or not this is true has yet to be confirmed by Bungie. There have been teases by Bungie and Activision about a "major content release" this fall, teases that seem to point towards an expansion.
According to marketing material obtained by Kotaku, along with details from an unnamed source, Destiny's next expansion is in fact titled The Taken King and it will cost $40, double the cost of the previous expansions — The Dark Below and House of Wolves.
The leaked materials suggest that The Taken King will bring a new subclass for Destiny's three classes; Warlock Hunter, and Titan. Each class will also be seeing a new elemental super ability: "An electrical storm for Warlocks (arc); a gravity bow for Hunters (void); and a flaming hammer for Titans (solar). Hardcore Destiny players will notice that these abilities revolve around the element each respective class lacks today."
New Strikes, PvP maps, and a raid against Oryx, Crota's father (who is looking for revenge) will also be included in the expansion.
The Taken King will release on September 15th, 2015 — according to sources.
