Relic Entertainment founder steps up as new executive vice president of THQ

THQ has appointed Ron Moravek as its new vice president of production.

Moravek co-founded Relic Entertainment, developer of Warhammer 40,000 and Company of Heroes, and helped sell the studio to THQ in 2004.

Previously, Moravek was vice president and COO of EA Canada, and he brings 14 years of experience to the position. As executive VP, Moravek will report directly to THQ's new president, Jason Rubin.

“Ron is an exceptional development executive with unique perspective on the industry from both a creative and business point of view,” Rubin said. “His entrepreneurial experience as well as his ability to drive dynamic teams is a great fit for our strategic objectives. Additionally, Ron’s experience building high-quality products will help us continue to deliver great games and build upon our foundation to innovate digitally in the future.”

THQ has suffered troubling losses with the uDraw tablet, and its stock was almost removed from NASDAQ after consistently trading under one dollar.
