Remember Me’s sequel already written, up to Capcom for development

The Paris based game developer Dontnod has been busy developing and episodically releasing their latest game, Life is Strange, but it's important not to forget the first game that studio made — Remember Me.

Remember Me was the action-adventure game that had you running through Neo Paris as Nilin and remixing memories, while searching for answers on exactly what the heck was going on. Without revealing too much about the game (in case you have yet to play), it ends in such a way that opens up for a sequel.

Dontnod has revealed that whether or not that sequel will happen depends on Capcom, Remember Me's publisher, and whether or not Square Enix approves of going beyond the planned five episodes for Life is Strange:

"We know what we would do for Remember Me 2. The main story has been written we know what we would add to the recipe. We know what we would fix. It’s a game that’s ready to be made, but that decision is Capcom’s to make.

But, right now our focus is [Life is Strange]. I really hope we will be able to work on more Life is Strange [beyond the five episodes]. We need to capitalize on what we have done. It is a balance of trying different things and capitalizing on what we know. For Season 2 we started bouncing ideas off each other. Obviously we need to see and Square Enix needs to see how the first season does to really decide whether we kick it off or not. So, it’s not in the works, but we have started the very early stages of conception at Dontnod."

Remember Me was an intriguing game with an awesome combat mechanic; the only drawback was the limited world (it was such a beautiful world that it felt like it should have been open world) and that for a game that boasted awesome memory remixing…you never really did it too much.

Would you rather see more of Life is Strange or a sequel to Remember Me?
