Research firm Superdata, a company that provides "relevant market data and insight on digital games," is at least one believer of the speculation that Activision's new Call of Duty installment for 2015 will be Black Ops 3.
Speaking of Activision's digital revenue for the month of February 2015, Superdata made note of Advanced Warfare's $1 billion in sales and year-over-year growth in DLC sales, "indicating that a growing subset of the traditional console gaming audience is adopting digital distribution."
"This month’s success sets the stage for the hotly anticipated fall release of Call of Duty Black Ops 3," the company wrote.
It's worth pointing out that at no point has Activision made mention of Black Ops 3, or a new Call of Duty for that matter; although, it is Treyarch's turn up at the plate, so there is a chance.
Earlier this week, an image of Treyarch Studios supposedly tweeting that the new Call of Duty would be Black Ops 3 made its way around the internet. It was fake, of course, but it's interesting that even a research firm believes that'll be the game.
What makes the whole thing even nuttier is that earlier this year, Canadian Xbox Community Manager Raj Patel tweeted an image that indicated this year's Call of Duty could be World at War II.
