Games tracker website Gamstat has added some peculiarly interesting new game covers today. The website specializes in tracking all kinds of content that are being uploaded to the PlayStation Store and thus is a credible source for upcoming new games. Among their newest tracked data are three covers for Resident Evil 3 Remake. Here they are.
Capcom has been successfully reinvigorating the long-standing survival-horror franchise Resident Evil after 2012’s divisive action-oriented RE6. By going back to its horror roots, RE7 once again managed to both amaze and scare players all around the world. But that was only the beginning of Capcom’s redemption arc. The Japanese publisher spared no expenses and finally did what fans have been asking for decades by giving the iconic Resident Evil 2 a full-on remake treatment. RE2 ended up being not only a great remake in its own right but one of the best games of 2019. Period.
Naturally, the immense success of RE2 Remake brought up speculation whether Capcom was going to continue remaking their retro classics. The most natural fit would be RE2’s sequel and today, this speculation is pretty much confirmed. Gamestat is scouring and tracking games and media that are added to the PlayStation Store, so their findings can be trusted. What we are seeing are three different game covers for Resident Evil 3 Remake. There is a banner for American and European regions who sport the regional Resident Evil nomenclature while the Japanese region gets Biohazard. That’s how Resident Evil has been called in Japan since the start. In these new covers, we also get to see the new design of protagonist Jill Valentine and the major foe Nemesis. Indie developer and Resetera moderator Dusk Golem a.k.a. AestheticGamer also shared a better image of Jill.
Since there’s no official word by Capcom, we suspect Resident Evil 3 Remake will be officially unveiled very soon. The most likely scenario is an announcement at this year’s The Game Awards. The venue has been traditionally used by publishers to announce new titles, alongside celebrating the best games of the year. Stay tuned for more on December 13th when The Game Awards takes place.
