Resident Evil 6 will be getting three new gameplay modes via downloadable content that will expand on the multiplayer experience offered in the retail version. The three modes — Survivors, Predator, and Siege, will all support up to six players online and be played using maps from the Mercenaries Mode.
Survivor's Mode adds a twist on the classic versus modes you may be used to. Upon getting killed you will respawn as an enemy character with the ability to attack the human characters. Taking down two human characters will revive you in human form. The goal is to be the last man or team standing.
In Predator Mode, one player will take on the role of the Ustanak, the fearsome B.O.W. that stalks Jake Muller throughout his campaign, and try to eliminate the human players. The humans' task is to survive until the end of the session or eliminate the Ustanak.
The last of the three modes will be Siege Mode where players, if they choose the human side, must protect a single NPC. Players on the "enemy" side are tasked with eliminating the NPC.
All three add-on modes will track player accomplishments along with the main campaign stats. You will be able to compare your performance with others on ResidentEvil.Net, the recently announced free online service that will launch alongside Resident Evil.
Other plans for post launch DLC for Resident Evil 6 include additional maps for Mercenaries, which will also be used for Survivors, Predator, and Siege modes. Capcom also teased other items that have yet to be announced.
Resident Evil 6 is set to release for Xbox 360 and PS3 on October 2, 2012.
