The demo for Resident Evil 7 came out just two days ago but eagle-eyed players might already have found a hidden message which seems to lead to a Resident Evil 2 remake.
Capcom has already confirmed that a Resident Evil 2 remake is somewhere in their pipeline, but according to the tinfoil hat wearing conspiracy community at NeoGAF there might just be a hint about Capcom planning to remake Resident Evil 2 to some extent in the near future alongside Resident Evil 7. However, they are still not sure if it will be it a demo or a full remake.
It all started with a screenshot of a string of numbers that for most people would mean nothing. But as it turns out, the numbers are the Product ID for a version of Resident Evil 1: Directors Cut which included a demo for Resident Evil 2.
As of now, the consensus seems to be that Capcom will be releasing a remade demo for Resident Evil 2. There was a version of Resident Evil 1: Directors Cut without a Resident Evil 2 demo as well, but it had a different Product ID altogether. You would think if Capcom were teasing a full game, they'd have just used the same Product ID for the full Resident Evil 2 game and not the demo.
This is still just a rumor but if it's true then a demo of the remade Resident Evil 2 will be coming soon.
Resident Evil 7 was revealed by Sony two days ago, June 13, at E3 and the demo is available for download on PlayStation 4 now.
The release of Resident Evil 7 is scheduled to be January 24, 2017, for all platforms.
