Producer Mike Jones announced at the Gamers Day 2011 even last week, that Capcom has plans to launch a Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City beta "early next year", according to Joystiq. Capcom's Operation Raccoon City takes a squad-based shooter approach to the Resident Evil series, putting more emphasis on the action and less on the scariness.
The new game, which takes place across the Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 timelines, allows teams of four players to blast their way through the city as Umbrella Security Service squad members sent in to cover up the zombie outbreak. Yes, in this game, you play as the other side of the outbreak – the bad guys.
No official beta date was announced, but Capcom did confirm earlier this week that Operation Raccoon City will release in the US on March 20, 2012, for Xbox 360 and PS3. Which means the beta will fall somewhere between January 1, 2012 and March 19, 2012.
