Resident Evil-themed shooter Umbrella Corps gets May release for PS4, PC

New action-packed gameplay trailer released

Capcom's "fast-paced" online competitive third-person shooter Umbrella Corps has received a May 2016 release window. It will be released digitally for PS4 and PC.

Announced at Sony's Tokyo Game Show back in September 2015, Umbrella Corps is geared towards competitive team battles, supporting 1-6 players in adrenaline-fueled matches set in familiar locales from various Resident Evil games.

In addition to the multiplayer aspect, there's a single player mode called "The Experiment," which offers 20 missions with varying objectives designed to familiarize players with the world of Umbrella Corps. "This coliseum style horde-like mode strips players of the Zombie Jammer device that provides perilous protection in multiplayer modes, putting them in a head-on confrontation with progressively harder waves of creatures, across multiple missions," Capcom says.

Alongside the release window announcement, Capcom confirmed the inclusion of two new locations inspired by Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5. The famed Village from RE4 has been "retooled" for multiplayer matches, while the Tricell organization from RE5 has a newly imaged HQ to explore. Not ony will you face off against a rival mercenary team, but also fend off stage-specific threats such as the crazed Ganados (RE4) and blood-thirsty Cerberus dogs (RE5).

A new gameplay trailer (above) provides an expanded look at the gameplay options and offers new details about the upcoming shooter.

Umbrella Corps will be available for $29.99 when released. You can read our impressions from a recent hands-on event here.
