Following Naughty Dog's announcement that Uncharted 4: A Thief's End has been pushed back to 2016, GameStop Italy has revealed a possible date for its release.
According to the retailer, Uncharted 4 will release exclusively for PlayStation 4 on April 22, 2016.
While it's quite likely this is just a placeholder for the highly anticipated game, it's worth pointing out a few tidbits that could indicate some validity to the date. For starters, April 22 is a Friday, which is when video games tend to ship in that particular reason. Also, the month of April fits perfectly into Uncharted 4's new spring 2016 launch window that Naughty Dog has is slated for.
Uncharted 4 was originally set to release in late 2015, but Naughty Dog decided to delay the blockbuster title when it "became clear to us that this game is much more ambitious than we originally envisioned." Rather than rush the game out for the holiday season, Naughty Dog would rather make a game that "meets the team’s high standards, but the high standards that gamers have come to expect from a Naughty Dog title."
Sony hasn't responded to the rumored release date and likely won't. With E3 rapidly approaching, I'm assuming we'll hear more about Uncharted 4 during Sony's press briefing.
