The must-play point-and-click adventure game Syberia is coming to the App Store, which is a great excuse to explore the series before the long-awaited third entry arrives.
Last year, French developer Microïds (which is currently working on a new website) and publisher Anuman Interactive announced a new Syberia game for release in 2014 or 2015 — a roughly 10-year break since the second game hit in 2004, leaving players with unanswered questions. Original designer Benoit Sokal has returned for Syberia 3.
You can play the first Syberia on several platforms — PC, Xbox, and even Nintendo DS. But if you'd rather play it on your iPhone or iPad, those versions should release on international App Stores soon thanks to mobile publisher Big Fish Games, which is splitting the game into three parts. The first costs $4.99, but you can try a demo for free.
Syberia is optimized for touch screens and features full voice-acting. The story follows American lawyer Kate Walker, who visits a toy factory in France only to learn that the owner has just died.
