Ripley and Hicks stay frosty in the new Alien concept art

Not much is known about Neill Blomkamp's mysterious new Alien film, but the director has released some new concept art that'll undoubtely have fans jumping for joy. The new concept art, published on the director's Instagram account, seemingly confirms Sigourney Weaver's return as Ellen Ripley, along with Michael Biehn as Corporal Hicks; although, Hicks is looking a bit rough in the new art.

While rumors of Weaver's and Biehn's return have existed for a while now, the artwork further solidifies the speculation which began when Blomkamp revealed that his new Alien film could ignore Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection.

Blomkamp has since come out and clarified his statement, explaining that he's not actually trying to undo what those movies did, but just connect Alien 1 and 2.

"My favorites are the first two movies, so I want to make a film that’s connected to Alien and Aliens. That’s my goal. I’m not trying to undo Alien 3 or Alien: Resurrection, I just want it to be connected to Alien 1 and 2," he said in an interview with AlloCine earlier this year.

Seeing as how Alien 3 began with the death of Hicks, it'd be hard to include the fan-favorite character in the new film without undoing what that movie did; but, I think many fans of the franchise wouldn't mind completely forgetting about the sequels to Aliens if it means we get to see Weaver and Biehn reunite on the big screen.

As Biehn teased earlier this year, maybe Hicks and Ripley "will eventually get to second base in this one…"

Ah yes, the sexual tension is high between these two — even with that melted eye.
