With the PlayStation 4 Pro boasting improved graphics and 4K gameplay for a number of games, how will it graphically compare to a high-end PC? DigitalFoundry took the PlayStation 4 Pro footage for Rise of the Tomb Raider and ran it against a high-end PC running the game at a native 4K in the 'Very High' preset to figure it out.
Overall, the gameplay does look and run well on the PS4 Pro against the PC, however, there are some differences. It appears as though the PS4 Pro uses the same high-texture preset as the Xbox One, rather than the very high texture quality on the PC.
The PS4 Pro has reduced specular lighting, something that was added in a patch for the PC version which helped out textures and edges quite a bit. Some scenes feature missing lighting on the Pro, lack of fire, or missing textures, but the village doesn't show a loss in quality or texture.
Occasionally, you can see lower resolution shadows on the Pro, but that's not a big deal.
