Rise of Tiamat expansion live on Xbox One

New zones, dungeons, gear and more!

Well, Perfect World and Neverwinter weren't lying when they said the Rise of Tiamat expansion would release in June as the expansion went live yesterday on Xbox One. The expansion brings to its conclusion the Tyranny of Dragons campaign in which we square off against the five headed dragon Tiamat herself in an epic battle. Also included in the expansion is the new zone The Well of Dragons. It is a huge desert full of new quests and in order to enter it you will need to be at max level (60) and have already completed the Assist the Zhentarim level of the Tyranny of Dragons campaign five times. Once this is completed you will begin the quest by speaking with Harper Boward in Protector's Enclave and be sent to speak with Elminster Aumar in the Well of Dragons. This is the same person with whom you needed to speak in the Protector's Jubilee event that just concluded in order to earn your commerative figurines and mission unlocks.

The missions in the Well of Dragons earn you Dragon Fangs, which are similar to the Dragon Sigils you earn in the earlier part of the campaign. These fangs will be used along with other items and currency to earn your way into the final battle with Tiamat. New exclusive gear is also included in the expansion along with some much requested changes to the dungeon queue system. No longer will you be able to be insta-kicked from a dungeon simply because you are not the desired class the rest of the dungeon is looking for. The new changes will autofill your party with the necessary class and a time limit has been installed in the kick system. You will now need to wait a specific amount of time prior to kicking someone from a dungeon as well as waiting in between kicks. These changes were instituted in order to form a more well balanced approach to match making in the dungeons.

All the changes are live now and The Rise of Tiamat is the first of five free expansions coming to Xbox One this year. Drizz't Do'Urden and the Strongholds are the two other confirmed expansions with the last two still being unannounced at this time. You can read the full list of patch notes and changes on the game's official page here. Be sure to log on and check out the new missions because after all, you wouldn't want to lose your celestial coins, right?
