After a little longer than one year in Early Access, Hopoo Games is ready to unleash its massively-popular roguelike action-shooter Risk of Rain 2 in version 1.0 to the masses. The developers really hit it out the part with the sequel to the original from 2013.
Early Access has felt like a crazy ride through uncharted space, and we can’t thank you all enough for supporting us over the last year and a half. We’ve had great fun steering through Early Access together, and we will always be thankful for the patience and excitement our community has displayed. We will have more information on the Console launch of 1.0 in the future – but it should follow a very similar cadence to the previous console launches.
Despite the first Risk of Rain being a huge hit itself, the success of Risk of Rain 2 was anything but a given. The designers went a radically different route with the sequel by leaving the pixel-art 2D style and going full 3D. A huge shift that could so easily have led to the sequel ending up a failed experiment.
But Hopoo Games have ultimately proven that they are not a one-hit-wonder studio and instead have cemented themselves as experts of the roguelike-action genre. Not only did Rist of Rain 2 break the sales records of the already popular first game but it also surpassed the mighty 92% Positive Users Reviews on Steam with an even more impressive 96%.
