Risk of Rain, a beloved indie title from Hopoo, is getting a sequel. Announced today, the sequel will jump from a 2D platformer, to a 3D one.
"Risk of Rain 2 is our first fully 3D project," the company said in a blog post. "We think that 3D allows for much deeper design spaces and more possibilities for cool gameplay. Feelings of scale and atmosphere are also much stronger. We are really happy with the core of Risk of Rain–and we're finding it plays even better in 3D. It just won't crash anymore."
The post was accompanied by a very small clip of the game in action. It's also said to be "very, very early in development." and that any of it is subject to change.
Risk of Rain 2 has been in development for the past six months, though a release date and price was not mentioned yet. The original Risk of Rain launched on PC in 2013 after a successful Kickstarter campaign and is heralded as a great success story from Kickstater projects.
Later, the game was ported to both PlayStation 4 and PS Vita.
