Earlier today, the Xbox One seemed to leak the cover art for the next Madden game; the box art featured Rob Gronkowski from the New England Patriots, but when asked on Twitter if this was true, EA denied it. Some might even say they straight up lied to us.
However, a couple hours later and we now have confirmation that Gronkowski will indeed be the cover athlete for Madden 17. The news comes from the man himself, Gronk, as well as Gronk Nation — Gronkowski's website.
A honor to be on the cover! I’M THE NEW #MADDEN17 COVER ATHLETE!!! Thanks @easportsinsider! #GRONKCOVER pic.twitter.com/z5M3IqxYmt

If you’re a Patriots fan you'll be very happy to see one of your players dawn the cover but at the same time a little worried if the cover art myth is to be believed. We saw it happen plenty of times, in fact, it recently happened to former Women's champion Ronda Rousey and her board partner, Conor McGreggor.
Madden 17 is set to release this Summer on August 23 for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.
